Have you ever wondered what the world would look like through a female gaze?
BRATT Theatre’s Ladylike is an introduction into the feminist world for people of all backgrounds, no matter where they may be on their feminist journey.
The piece explores and celebrates womanhood in the twenty-first century, and is drawn from the company’s personal experiences, and the testimony of others. It takes an original approach to feminism through comedy and satire by showing women in an obnoxious, provocative light. Taboos are broken, stereotypes are abolished and being ‘ladylike’ is exposed as dull.
This performance combines episodic narratives, movement-based pieces, audience participation and satirical skits to create an immersive experience examining the trials and tribulations of womanhood. We aim to create an amusing and welcoming space where people can explore what it means to be a female in the twenty-first century.
